Biography

Dr. Woldai Ghebreab (BS, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia; MSc, Roorkee University, India; and PhD, Uppsala University, Sweden) specializes in structural geology, rock mechanics and tectonic modeling. His MSc was conducted on a fellowship from the UNDP, and his PhD was conducted on a fellowship from the Swedish International Development Agency. He conducted his PhD studies in the famed Hans Ramberg Tectonics Laboratory at Uppsala University, Sweden, where he worked with Professor Chris Talbot on tectonic modeling. He has held a post-doctoral research fellowship at Heidelberg University, Germany, and did research on the Red Sea geodynamics and African plate motion using GPS at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States.

He has successfully applied tectonic models to mineral and groundwater exploration in Africa, Central America, and the United States. He was Professor and Chair of the Department of Earth Sciences in the University of Asmara, Eritrea before he moved to the U.S. in late 2005, where he is now a citizen. He was a visiting professor at Akron University (OH), and Marshall University (WV) before joining EarthWater Technologies, Inc. in 2012. He is an Associate Editor to the Journal of African Earth Sciences and a member of the African Geological Society. He was awarded research grants from Swedish International Development Agency, and he is a recipient of Research Fellow Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. Woldai is a co-developer of Power 7 Corporation’s Transformational Groundwater Exploration (TGE) technology.
