Jake Longenecker

Geoscientist & Lead Digital Mapping Developer

 

 

Biography

Jake Longenecker (BA, Franklin and Marshall College) received his BA from Franklin and Marshall College, where he was instrumental in developing what would become the initial version of ECHO-GPM. Working as an Environmental Scientist and Geophysicist, Jake continued to refine his field work and data interpretation, while collaborating with Power 7 team members and further refining the ECHO-GPM algorithm. In 2017, Jake was installed on the Karst Commission and was awarded the "Young Karst Researcher Award" for his work on ECHO-GPM.

In 2018, he joined Power 7 as a Geoscientist and Lead Developer. Since joining Power 7, Jake has advanced the ECHO-GPM science with the addition of ECHO-ID, developed THOR in collaboration with other Power 7 team members, promoted Power 7 services in peer-reviewed symposiums and publications, and is integral to the development of our proprietary technologies through his research, field work, and innovative collaboration.

Jake is currently teaching while completing his M.S. in Geology, studying climate and remote sensing at the City College of New York, under a fellowship from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
